.."His pictorial research is founded in the history of painting. Painting a painting, or painting within a painting could, at first glance, be considered a simple tautology. On deeper examination, however, other perspectives become apparent. Patrick Crédeville’s painting certainly falls within painting. The question of subject is thus asked. His subjects are selected from art history: Masaccio, Champaigne, and Poussin, among others.
